The invention relates to a method and a device (1) for planning the charging of a motor vehicle that has an electric drive, comprising an evaluation device (2) and a display and control device (3), said evaluation device (2) being designed such that it (2) allows at least one electrical charging post (13, 14) to be detected in the vicinity of the motor vehicle and displayed on the display and control device (3), said evaluation device (2) and display and control device (3) being designed such that an actual motor vehicle operating strategy is shown on the display and control device (3) and, when an electrical charging post (13, 14) is selected on said display and control device (3), a charging time, charging amount or operating range is queried and said evaluation device (2) then determines a future operating strategy as a function of the charging time, amount or operating range that was entered, and displays this on said display and control device (3).
