The brake system includes at least two brake circuits, wherein a first of the at least two brake circuits is allocated an electrically and pneumatically controllable control valve and a second of the at least two brake circuits is allocated an electrically controllable parking brake valve in order to predetermine braking pressures so as to actuate wheel brakes of the respective brake circuit. The brake system further includes a first control unit configured to electrically actuate the electrically and pneumatically controllable control valve in dependence upon a vehicle desired deceleration and a second control unit configured to electrically control the parking brake valve in dependence upon the vehicle desired deceleration that is requested in an automated manner. In addition, the brake system includes at least one bypass valve to which a control valve is allocated.
