A battery management apparatus according to an embodiment disclosed herein includes a sensor configured to generate information about occurrence of fire and a controller configured to control charge of the battery based on power for charging the battery, supplied from a charger, monitor the information about occurrence of the fire based on power for monitoring the fire, supplied from the charger, upon completion of charge of the battery, and determine whether the fire occurs based on a monitoring result.
