A coper unit 10 has a platform edge side 14 and an opposing rear edge side 15 with a tactile section 30 in between, and at least one mounting point 20 for repeated attachment and removal of a fence 50. A number of coping units may be secured together using locking elements (fig.1,45) in side slots 40. The fence mounting point may be a recess receiving an end of a fence post 52, securing it with a locking mechanism such as a latch or screw thread. Posts of the fence may have base plates (fig.4,64) spring biased towards their attachment ends. Preferably, the tactile section is a separate unit, having an array of raised domes 31, installed in a recess 18. The tactile section may extend across the coper unit positioned between the platform edge and the fence mounting point. Anti-slip grooves 19 may be provided parallel to the platform edge, between the tactile section and the platform edge. A drip groove 28 may be provided in a bottom surface, running adjacent the platform edge. A threaded lifting eye mounting point 22 may be provided for the removable attachment of a lifting eye suitable for attaching a lifting cable.
