A railroad vehicle body structure comprising an underframe (2, figure 1), side structure 4 having end surfaces, end structures 5, a roof structure (3, figure 1) and a shock absorbing structure10 provided to be sandwiched between end surfaces of each side structure 4, the roof structure (3) and the underframe in a longitudinal direction, and a peripheral edge of each end structure so as to be collapsed in the event of a collision in order to absorb collision energy. The shock absorbing structure comprises an end portion frame 5a,b provided around the underframe, the side structures 4 and the roof structure (3) and energy absorbing member 110a is provided along the end portion frame to be collapsed by the end portion frame in the event of a collision; and wherein the railroad vehicle body structure comprises a fastening part 120 that penetrates through a hole in the end structure 5 to join the end structure 5 to the energy absorbing member 110a, the inner diameter of the hole in the end structure being larger than the outer diameter of the fastening part.
