PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable prevention of advancement in an inhibition direction beforehand, as suppressing bother of warning displays from being given to drivers as much as possible.SOLUTION: A sign recognition system includes: display means 11 for conducting a warning display about road signs with respect to drivers; specific road sign detection means (an out-vehicle camera 4) that detects specific road signs indicative of advancement inhibition exclusive of specified directions existing forward; advancement direction detection means (a winker 5) that detects an advancement direction of an own vehicle; and control means U. The control means U is configured to, when the advancement direction of the own vehicle runs as a direction of the specific road sign, cause the warning display not to be conducted on the display unit 11, and in the meantime, when the own vehicle advances in a direction different from a specified direction of the specific road sign, cause the warning display to be conducted on the display means 11. Upon conducting the warning display, when a visual line of the driver does not direct at the specific road sign, a warning (specifically, voice warning) is preferable to be simultaneously conducted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】運転者に対して注意表示の煩わしさを極力与えないようにしつつ、禁止方向へ進行してしまうことを未然に防止できるようにする。【解決手段】運転者に対して道路標識に関する注意表示を行うための表示手段11と、前方に存在する指定方向外進行禁止を示す特定の道路標識を検出する特定道路標識検出手段(車外カメラ4)と、自車両の進行方向を検出する進行方向検出手段(ウインカ5)と、制御手段Uと、を有する。制御手段Uは、自車両の進行方向が、特定の道路標識の指定方向どおりであるときは、表示手段11への注意表示を行わないようにする一方、特定の道路標識の指定方向とは相違する方向へ自車両が進行しているときは、表示手段11に注意表示を行う。注意表示を行う際に、運転者の視線方向が特定の道路標識を向いていないときは、合わせて警報(特に音声警報)を行うのが好ましい。【選択図】 図3
