To provide a pneumatic tire simulation method capable of correctly simulating a rib-tear, and also to provide a pneumatic tire evaluation method capable of correctly predicting and evaluating rib-tear resistance performance.SOLUTION: A pneumatic tire simulation method includes the steps of: performing element division of a pneumatic tire having main grooves and land parts and generating a finite element model of the pneumatic tire that can be analyzed by a computer; determining a projection arranged on a road surface and having an edge extending in a predetermined direction; and calculating a strain distribution to be generated on main groove surfaces when one of the finite element model and the projection is rotated by only a return angle β in a rotating direction so as to reduce an angle made by the edge and a tire equatorial line of the finite element model after the finite element model has contact with the edge so as to allow the tire equatorial line to be inclined by an incident angle α with respect to the edge.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
