To obtain a technique which can properly alleviate an engagement shock when a friction engagement device possesses a piston in which a radial-direction groove is formed at a pressing face.SOLUTION: A friction engagement device 1 comprises an elastic member 20 between a piston 10 and a friction plate 51 in an axial direction L. The elastic member 20 has a second engaged part engaged with an engagement part of a cylindrical member 30 so as to be movable in the axial direction L, and an annular plate-shaped part sandwiched by a pressing face 14 of the piston 10 and the friction plate 51 from both sides in the axial direction L. Protrusions and recesses are alternately formed at a face which is oriented to an axial-direction first side L1 in the annular plate-shaped part. The engagement part of the cylindrical member 30, a first engaged part of the piston 10, and the second engaged part of the elastic member 20 are formed so that the piston 10 and the elastic member 20 are not engaged with the cylindrical member 30 at a specified phase with a phase in which a radial-direction groove 14b formed at the pressing face 14 and the protrusions formed at the annular plate-shaped part are brought into the same positions in a peripheral direction as the specified phase.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】摩擦係合装置が押圧面に径方向溝が形成されたピストンを備える場合に、係合ショックを適切に緩和することが可能な技術を実現する。【解決手段】摩擦係合装置1は、ピストン10と摩擦板51との軸方向Lの間に弾性部材20を備える。弾性部材20は、軸方向Lに移動自在に筒状部材30の係合部に係合する第2被係合部と、ピストン10の押圧面14と摩擦板51とにより軸方向Lの両側から挟まれる円環板状部とを有し、円環板状部における軸方向第1側L1を向く面に、凸部と凹部とが周方向に交互に形成される。押圧面14に形成された径方向溝14bと円環板状部に形成された凸部とが周方向の同じ位置となる位相を特定位相として、ピストン10と弾性部材20とが特定位相で筒状部材30に係合できないように、筒状部材30の係合部、ピストン10の第1被係合部、及び弾性部材20の第2被係合部が形成されている。【選択図】図2
