To provide an engine start control device of a hybrid vehicle capable of suppressing torque fluctuation of a driving wheel and suppressing vehicle vibrations felt by an occupant, without accurately controlling motor torque or clutch torque.SOLUTION: An engine 2 and a motor generator 3 are connected through an automatic clutch 7, and the motor generator 3 and a manual transmission 4 are connected through a manual clutch 8. An ECU 10 is provided, which switches an EV mode and an HEV mode on the basis of mode determining driver request torque and a mode transition threshold value. If determining that the manual clutch 8 is in a release state, ECU 10 limits the transition threshold value for determining whether or not it should be transferred to the HEV mode, and maintains or gradually corrects the mode determining driver request torque to a value before the manual clutch 8 is brought to the release state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
