To provide a switch for a railway vehicle and a manufacturing method thereof that realize weight reduction due to a load-bearing constraint.SOLUTION: A switch for a railway vehicle includes a vacuum interrupter with a fixed electrode and a movable electrode that contacts or dissociates from the fixed electrode, a fixed conductor connected to the fixed electrode, a first bushing conductor that is electrically connected to the fixed conductor, a movable conductor connected to the movable electrode, a second bushing conductor that is electrically connected to the movable conductor, an aerial insulation operating rod placed coaxially with the movable conductor, a solid insulating member that is made of thermosetting resin and covers the vacuum interrupter and the first and second bushing conductors, and a structural member that is made of thermoplastic resin and is joined to a portion of the solid insulation member that forms an aerial insulating space around the aerial insulation operating rod, and a space formed by the solid insulating member made of thermosetting resin and the structural member made of thermoplastic resin is configured to form a part of the aerial insulating space.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
