To provide a shaft-driven generator/propulsion electric motor system capable of saving space on a vessel.SOLUTION: A shaft-driven generator/propulsion electric motor system includes: a shaft-driven generator/propulsion electric motor working both as a propulsion electric motor and a shaft-driven generator; a sliding clutch and a lock-up clutch provided inside a gear box for coupling a main engine, the shaft-driven generator/propulsion electric motor, and a propulsion propeller and capable of being changed over to the shaft-driven generator/propulsion electric motor; a cross board provided between the shaft-driven generator/propulsion electric motor and a main switchboard, for changing over the shaft-driven generator/propulsion electric motor between a power generation mode and an electric power mode; an automatic voltage adjuster for controlling voltage of the shaft-driven generator/propulsion electric motor to be constant in the power generation mode; an automatic power factor adjuster for controlling power factor of the shaft-driven generator/propulsion electric motor to be constant in the electric power mode; and an exciting circuit for switching to the automatic voltage adjuster in the power generation mode and switching to the automatic power factor adjuster in the electric power mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
