The present invention relates to an apparatus for controlling an engine of a hybrid vehicle, and a method therefor. The apparatus for controlling an engine of a hybrid vehicle varies an engine lambda in accordance with required torque of a driver to satisfy driver demand torque and enable a battery to be charged. Therefore, an engine of which the engine lambda is less than 1 is operated when the large driver demand torque is required in order to satisfy the driver demand torque and enable the battery to be charged by a motor.

    본 발명은 운전자 요구토크에 따라 엔진 람다를 가변하여, 운전자 요구토크를 만족시키는 동시에 배터리 충전이 이루어질 수 있도록 한 하이브리드 차량의 엔진 제어 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 즉, 본 발명은 운전자 요구토크가 큰 고 요구토크 상황에 직면하면, 엔진 람다 < 1 인 엔진 운전이 이루어지도록 함으로써, 운전자 요구토크를 만족시키는 동시에 구동모터에 의한 배터리 충전이 이루어질 수 있도록 한 하이브리드 차량의 엔진 제어 장치 및 방법을 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다.
