A sensor for a vehicle and a method for controlling the same are introduced. The sensor includes: an ultrasonic transceiving part; a storage part; and a control part that determines a distance to a target through transmitted and received ultrasonic waves, and determines the detected target as a proximity target within a predetermined distance from the ultrasonic transceiving part when the ring time of the received ultrasonic wave is greater than the normal ring time of the storage part.

    초음파 송수신부; 저장부; 및 송수신된 초음파를 통하여 타겟과의 거리를 판정하고, 수신된 초음파의 링타임이 저장부의 정상링타임보다 증대된 경우 검출된 타겟을 초음파 송수신부로부터 일정거리 이내에 근접한 근접타겟으로 판별하는 제어부;를 포함하는 차량의 초음파센서 및 그 제어방법이 소개된다.
