This paper deals with the concept of the braking system by wire. It composes of three parts: an electro-hydraulic ABS unit with additional sensors and actuators controlled by a master control unit, an integrated emergency brake and the applied brake control algorithms. Implementation took place on a quad bike called "Democar". It is equipped with control units such as electric drive control unit, steering control unit, lighting control unit, energy management control unit, and central control unit. All of the control units communicate with each other via CAN bus. The emergency brake is used in the event of a power failure or failure of the service brake system.
