In recent years, China’s inland waterway transportation has developed rapidly. During the ship operation and navigation, pollutants such as oily waste, sewage and garbage will be produced, which will have a serious impact to the environment. Since the characteristics of regionality and fluidity of ship pollutions, the Yangtze River trunk line was selected as the research objective. Using the basic calculation method and the calculation method based on AIS ship information, water pollutant loads of ships in the Yangtze River trunk line were calculated respectively. The result is compared with the empirical value form literature data and the characteristics of ship pollutants are analyzed also. Based on the characteristics of ship pollutant load, the feasibility of its reduction in the inland water area is studied.
