The development of Safety Transportation Systems (STS) offers the chance to use modern technology to transportation systems and techniques for more efficient, pleasant, and safe modes of transportation. Since the 1970s, the automotive industry has been primarily focused on road transportation, and more especially on the subject of intelligent cars, which covers the issue of autonomous vehicles. A vehicle's steering system is used to move the vehicle in a certain direction. This is a critical subsystem of a vehicle without which it would be difficult for the vehicle to continue its intended course. The classic steering system involved turning the front wheels in the desired direction. Power steering, on the other hand, was developed to assist drivers in driving vehicles by increasing in the effort of steering wheel. The addition of hydraulic or electric actuators to the steering system increases the system's controllable energy, requiring the driver to spend minimum effort regardless of the conditions. This article will go over how EPS can move the wheel without the driver's assistance, as well as lane maintaining and over/under steering correction.
