The Advanced Traffic Management System Laboratory is designed and configured for developing, testing and evaluating ITS technologies. In this paper, practical issues in the laboratory development and configuration are discussed. Those issues include space configuration, network security, network design and configuration, server/workstation configuration, video/audio configuration, signalized intersections, software etc. Finally, an example case of the configuration and the associated cost estimation is presented.
