With the application of Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) concept, accurate navigation positioning and guidance become a major requirement of civil aircraft for improving operational safety. The PBN horizontal navigation accuracy flight test is the key to demonstrate that the civil aircraft meets the requirements of PBN navigation specification. Therefore, the focus of this paper is how to evaluate PBN navigation accuracy by flight testing. Based on International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), PBN consists of two basic navigation specifications: area navigation (RNAV) and Required Navigation Performance (RNP). This paper analyzes the composition and calculation method of horizontal navigation error. By studying several domestic and foreign Advisory Circular (AC) documents, this paper summarizes and studies horizontal accuracy requirements for RNAV and RNP operations. Finally, combined engineering experience with professional knowledge, the paper proposes flight test procedure, flight test data source and data analysis method in flight testing, to provide guidance and help for subsequent civil aircraft flight test.
