With more HVDC inverters are located in close proximity, the complicated interaction between each inverter is inevitable. Besides the electrical topology of AC grid connected with inverters, the regulators of DC systems also play a very important role during the dynamic procedure. The conventional index of MIIF presented by CIGRE lacks the consideration of dynamic control in HVDC systems. In this paper, the performance of traditional MIIF, when quantifying interaction, is evaluated. In the case of faults occurring in AC system, the effects of control in both rectifiers and inverters on the features of interaction are analyzed, whereby a better approach to estimate interaction index and meanwhile consider DC current variation due to control is proposed. Finally, a multi-infeed HVDC system modeled in PSACD/EMTDC is used to validate the proposed approach. The results demonstrate more reasonable accuracy.
