The Fluids Experiment Apparatus (FEA) payload has completed two flights sponsored under a Joint Endeavor Agreement (JEA) with Rockwell International Corporation. The first flight, on STS-30 launched in May 1989, provided useful information regarding the equipment and its operations while performing float-zone crystal growth. The second flight, on STS-32 in January 1990, involving an experiment sponsored by Johnson Space Center, emphasized study of the effects of microgravity disturbances on the float-zone crystal growth process. The enclosed report provides post-flight documentation for these flights of the FEA and assesses them successful. This completes the flight activity.
