The MEA-A2 mission was conducted on the STS 22 (STS 6l.A) Spacelab D-l flight, launched from the Kennedy Space Center at12:OO EST, on October 30, 1985. Landing was at Edwards Air Force&se on November 6, 1985, at 12:45 EST, after 7 days of on-orbit operation. This was the second flight of the MEA on the Shuttle. It provided reciprocity by the Federal Republic of Germany for the accommodation of three German project MAUS payloads on the BTA-2 mission which flew in June of 1983. The primary objectives of the mission were the on-orbit processing and return to Earth of materials science experiment specimens for postflight scientific investigations. The enclosed MOR describes MEA-A2 mission and documents this activity as having successfully met the overall objectives of the mission.
