Results of seven borings made in the planned storage yard in one section of the New Carrollton Route of the Washington Metropolitan Area Metro system near the intersection of the Penn Central Railroad with the I-495 Beltway in Prince Georges County, Maryland are summarized. The investigation was made to determine subsurface conditions in an areas where a substantial cut and fill operation was planned for the preparation of the storage yard facilities. The report contains geological sections through the various borings, logs of the borings, results of a few laboratory tests, conclusions regarding subsoil properties and a summary of anticipated design and construction problems.
