Results of 45 borings made in the subject section of the New Carrollton Route of the Washington Metropolitan Area Metro system are summarized. The exploration work is located in the community of Kenilworth in southeastern District of Columbia along the trackage of the Penn Central and B and O Railroads. The investigation was made to determine subsurface conditions for planned rapid transit construction including two major subway stations. The report contains geological sections at the two stations, and a number of crossing structures, logs of the borings, results of laboratory tests on undistrubed samples, a summary of subsoil properties and conclusions on anticipated design and construction problems.
