Projects funded under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) must be developed in accordance with standards developed by the Secretary of Transportation. The standards contained in the advisory circular relate to materials and methods used in the construction of airports. The standards contained herein are recommended by the Federal Aviation Administration for use in the construction of airports. For Federally funded projects, the standards are mandatory. Items covered include earthwork, drainage, paving, turfing, lighting, and incidental construction.
