Projects funded under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) must be developed in accordance with the applicable policies, standards and specifications approved by the Secretary of Transportation. The standards contained in the advisory circular relate to materials and methods used in the construction of airports. Since it is not feasible to provide construction specifications that can be applied to all geographical areas of the United States, the guide specifications in the advisory circular should be used in developing project specifications. Notes to the engineer elaborate on the options available to the design engineer when preparing specifications. Where numbers, phrases or sentences are enclosed in brackets, a choice or modification must be made where blank spaces occur in sentences. The appropriate data must be inserted. The standards are to be used to develop construction specifications for an individual project. The diskettes are in ASCII format.
