The Air Force Logistics Command (AFLC), the Ogden Air Materiel Area (OOAMA), and The Rand Corporation are jointly conducting a Levels of Maintenance Study (LOMS). This report describes a portion of that study. It presents the charts and text of a briefing concerning an alternative arrangement for performing major base-level scheduled inspections on F-4 aircraft to reduce redundancy between base and depot inspections. It explains the proposed method, describes several factors that make it seem both sensible and appropriate, and suggests field testing. In addition, it extends the information presented at the briefing by providing background research.
