The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has filed an application to construct an extension of the Long Island Railroad which will include approximately 3.5 miles of underground rail system. One part will be in the Borough of Manhattan, and the other will be in the Borough of Queens. The permanent adverse environmental impacts for this project include business displacement and relocation, noise and visual intrusions.
