The paper will present an overview of the current NASA project on development of electric propulsion technologies and in particular, a newly discovered insulation technology, namely micromultilayer multifunctional electrical insulation (MMEI). Results of extensive dielectric performance evaluations and its potential capabilities including efforts of demonstrating scale-up and commercial applicability of MMEI will be summarized.
