This paper discusses the application of the General Electric LM100 gas turbine as a prime mover for large off-highway vehicles. Installation considerations are discussed and the general configuration of the total package is delineated. Some of the problems encountered during the test program are enumerated, along with their actual or proposed solutions. The paper concludes that the gas turbine is now a practical powerplant for this type of vehicle and holds even better promise for the future.
