This paper investigates the effect of Ackerman steering error upon the front tire wear rate and wear profile on medium duty trucks.Three identical class 7 trucks with different Ackerman steer characteristics were driven over a simulated pick-up and delivery course. The front tire wear rate and wear profile were periodically monitored during the test.Tire wear rates, wear profiles, and Ackerman error are compared.
