A new Hall-effect IC digital injection sensor has been developed by Wolff Controls Corporation. The sensor is self-calibrating and will be used for instantaneous fuel consumption indication and for timing and fuel input feedback on closed loop electronically controlled diesel engines. It is the only needle lift sensor giving both, a beginning of injection and a fuel quantity signal. This paper focuses on the fuel quantity signal, its derivation and accuracy, and discusses applications using different types of injectors and injection systems.
