Benefits to be derived from operation of a Reliability-Field Engineering Program at weapon system test and operational bases are discussed. A description is given of the method of operation of Convair Astronautics' Reliability Field Engineering Program for the Atlas missile. Practical recommendations pertaining to direction and control, selection of personnel, plant support, feedback to the field, and so on, are made for those companies that desire to set up similar programs.
