THE nature of the instability of helicopters is described here by Mr. Kelley, who also enumerates factors that contribute to it.Two of Arthur M. Young's early attempts to solve the problem are discussed by the author, who states that the final solution is a device that makes model helicopters perfectly stable in flight. The application of this device to full-scale helicopters is also described.
