This paper presents a practical, C programming architecture for developing graphics and graphical user interface (GUI) software for in-vehicle displays such as those found in automotive telematics, shipboard engine control panels and airplane glass cockpits. This paper will compare C graphics to several other methodologies for writing in-vehicle display software. It will also discuss techniques for mixing C graphics with application code written in object oriented languages such as C++ and Java.
