IN this paper, Mr. Brady discusses thrustmeter design, calibration, flight instrumentation and procedure, test results, body-propeller interaction; and summarizes the usefulness of the thrustmeter. The author concludes with the observation that use of shaft thrust measurements in routine flight testing to check calculated airplane performance does not appear very practicable until additional data have been obtained by which the several corrections can be more accurately determined. The thrustmeter, however, he asserts, does have important value in determining the relative efficiency of different propellers.
