Nowadays, due to the increasing number of vehicles and improper parking management, parking areas have become more crowded. Booking parking slots online before reaching the parking area, anomaly detection for safety purposes, avoiding traffic near the parking areas, license plate detection, etc. are some of the objectives of smart parking management. Among all these objectives, license plate detection plays a vital role in smart parking as it helps us in identifying the vehicle. By smart parking, we mean all the processes are being carried digitally, i.e., utilizing the camera, we are detecting the vehicles and sending the information to the database which will store the information. The implementation is done in Python language taking ideas from other papers. Here, for detecting and recognizing the vehicle license plate, deep learning algorithms and Tesseract OCR are used, respectively.
