Reviews systems as widely differing as omnibus-type telephone circuits to HF/VHF/UHF/microwave narrow band systems. The planning of microwave systems and noise considerations and type of fading encountered are reviewed. RF equipment parameters as a function of repeater spacing are suggested to facilitate the indigenous production suitable to Railways' communication requirements. The use of frequency diversity is recommended and the relevant parameters are specified.
