Fluid Mechanical approach to car traffic flow is characterized by the occurrence of traffic shock wave(s). The fundamental diagram is assumed to be parabolic, and a kind of stream function is introduced to give an analytical expression for various flow fields. Interaction of two shocks results in the lambda-type configuration in the space-time diagram; two examples are shown for (1) the flow near a narrowing from a two-to-one-lane road, and (2) the delay due to an unequal duration of a red signal. Two consecutive signals with different red-green ratios give an example of the interaction of two lambda-type shocks, and the transition from 'I'-type to 'H'-type configuration is shown. As an exceptional case, two lambda-type shocks merge into a four-shock configuration, in which car trajectory on either side of the critical one crosses three or one shocks instead of two each.
