The results of robotics researchers from 1981 to 1984 in the field of legged locomotion is a new type of robot of the amphibian-mobile class called: MARINE ROBOT RM3. Its nonconventional morphology allows it to clean up the hull of the ship under water or to climb by legged locomotion on vertical surfaces. The feet of RM is a combination of vacuum and magnetic cups plus sensors. Six hydraulic actuators provide a walking speed of 150 m/hour and a cleaning rate of 5000 square meters/day. RM3 can be used for painting, video inspection, grinding, X-ray examination.
