The process in building big ships demands, high-tension steel (tension strength form 260 MPa to 390 MPa) for construction purposes. Now, the Gdynia Shipyard, PL, uses high-tension steel to an extent of 11.3 % to 82 % depending on the type of ship (mainly for chemicals, petroleum and gas tankers). The steels works have been practically proven in heavy weather and corrosion environment conditions and should be used to avoid marine disasters caused by ship hull breakage. In the last 7 years, 89 vessels (mainly container vessels) were produced in the Gdynia Shipyard.
