Corrosion fatigue tests in artificial seawater were performed on welded K-joints under variable amplitude loading (axial loading, R = -1) using a simulated sea state sequence of the North Sea, called Common Load Sequence (COLOS). The K-joints, manufactured of StE 355-steel, had a chord diameter of 1100 mm and 30 mm wall thickness and a brace diameter of 500 mm and 20 mm wall thickness. For detection of crack initiation and estimation of crack depth and crack shape a computer controlled multiprobe ACPD scanning system was used.
