Filament wound test specimens of glass fibre/polyester, glass fibre/epoxy, carbon fibre/epoxy and aramid fibre/epoxy composites have been simultaneously stored for two years under accelerated ageing conditions. Two climates were used, 40 deg C/80 percent RH and 60 deg C/80 percent RH respectively. The moisture absorption was registered by increase in weight of each test specimen. The effect of moisture and degradation on the mechanical properties has been studied and results from ILSS testes (ASTM D2344), NOL ring tests (ASTM D2290) and hydraulic bursting tests are presented and discussed.
