Focusing on inertial sensors and navigation, this chapter introduces inertial measurements and their role in navigation systems. It addresses the effects of Earth's gravity, rotation, and curvature on inertial measurements and explains the components of an inertial measurement unit (IMU). A detailed discussion on inertial sensor errors, their modeling using Allan Variance (AV), and their compensation methods precede an exploration of inertial navigation systems (INS). MATLAB project samples and practical problems and references are provided to support the theoretical content.
