In the present study, the Taguchi method was performed in assessing the maximum heat transfer rate for natural convection of a nanofluid in an enclosure with an adjustable wall. The simulations were planned based on the Taguchi L25 orthogonal array. The experiments were performed under different positions of the top and bottom walls of the cavity and particle volume fraction of the nanofluid. The thermal lattice Boltzmann method based on D3Q19 methods was employed to simulate the flow and thermal fields. A signal-to-noise ratio analysis was carried out in order to determine the effects of the process parameters and the optimal factor settings. The present results demonstrated great reliability of the Taguchi method in optimization of the thermal system.
