In this study, an inverse calculation model based on the Levenberg–Marquardt optimization method with Tikhonov regularization to reconstruct CO 2 temperature profiles and average concentrations from measured line-of-sight spectral intensity data is presented. The measured spectra were synthesized through calculations from high-temperature molecular spectroscopic database 2010, the high-temperature spectral database, for the CO 2 4.3 μ m and CO 2 2.7 μ m bands. Although it has been shown that Tikhonov regularization is suitable for ill-posed inverse problems, it is difficult to select an appropriate regularization parameter, especially for nonlinear problems. A new regularization selection method based on the combination of the L-curve criterion, and the discrepancy principle is proposed and shows good generality for different temperature profile inversions.
