A cellular automaton (CA) model is widely used in traffic flow modeling for its simplicity, but a single-lane one cannot model the realistic traffic. The STCA model is a classical two-lane CA model and has studied the mixed traffic including fast cars and slow ones. However, it leaves much to be desired. To improve this model, the H-STCA model considers the honk effect and the A-STCA model takes aggressive lane-changing behaviors into account. In this paper, we propose a new symmetric two-lane CA model considering the turn signal effect (T-STCA) and present the results of a detailed simulation comparing the four models. It is shown that the new T-STCA model can illustrate the lane-changing or overtaking process in several consecutive time steps. Instead, the three models only portray the process in one time step. Moreover, the "plugs" dissolve quickly as the following sequence: T-STCA >H-STCA >A-STCA >STCA.
