The paper introduces a solution for integrated electric propulsion systems in the 2000 m3 self-propelled suction dredger. The integrated electric propulsion system functions are described in detail. It also discusses several key problems involved in integrated electric propulsion system design, including varying frequency driving plan, harmonic wave estimation, power management system design, propulsion and dredging monitoring and control system design. By using the integrated electric propulsion system in the dredger, it realizes various functions including the unified power supply, power management, variable frequency drive and comprehensive monitoring and control. It has greatly increased overall effects and high automation of the dredger. Meanwhile it is also saves energy by adopting integrated electric propulsion solution. This will be a new direction for green-energy equipped ships in domestic rivers.
