The construction of a new railway station has a major impact on the urban structure of any city because unlike airports or other infrastructure it represents a 'port' in the very heart of the city. In Italy, stations have always been considered real monuments, so the construction of stations has marked the stages of modernization of the country. The new stations being designed for the implementation of high-speed rail transport are located in cities according to different criteria than in the past, often to reunite parts of the cities separated by rail to contribute to their integration into a metropolitan dimension.
