Paper is concerned with area of vibrations imposed by hard terrain roughness; functional definition of terrain roughness is used as input; statisticaltechnique for classification of this input has been developed and is presented as analytical expression; with this definition and standard mathematical modeling techniques, tool can be developed for aiding in concept phase of design process; vehicle design trends for better cross-country speeds are discussed in terms of improving ride comfort of vehicle as evaluated in this way.
