Various methods are presented for estimating flight time for vehicles which fly optimum trajectory; realistic example is considered in order to display inherent accuracy of each of these methods; numerical integration methods are found to be most accurate; simple formulas are derived for case where less accurate estimate is acceptable; all of these methods require less computation than would be required in order to solve overall optimization problem; thus any one of these methods can be applied to on-board guidance scheme or control system which requires real time estimate of time-to-go.
